Century-old skills continue to produce some of the most artistic and exciting wares in Rajasthan which are admired and collected not only by connoisseurs in India but are popular all across the world Rajasthan is a land of vibrant colours.

These colours are a striking part of the Rajasthani life and are found in the bustling bazars, in fairs & festivals,in the customs worn " and produced, and in the tradition al painting & murals. The popular artifacts and antiquities, though available at large in the state, but every city or town has some artifacts or antiquity which accounts for the speciality of its markets. Different cities as such are known to provide different articles. Some of the best markets and shopping places are located in the following cities :

Jaipur : The silver and gold work of Jaipur is quite famous. The popular markets also sell bangles, precious and semi precious stones, carpets and enamel work. Sanganer and Bagru, two small towns in the region are known for block printing and dye works. The blue pottery of Jaipur is also famous.

Ajmer - Pushkar : These places provide quality leather products. Embroidery works and ornamentation are popular throughout the region. Popular shopping places include Purani Mandi, Naya Bazar, Station Road, Nala Bazar, etc.

Bikaner : The speciality of the Bikaner are camel hides, carpets made of camel and sheep wool, wood and leather articles. Some of the best places to shop here are Cottage Industries Institute, Station Road and King Edward Memorial Road.

Jaisalmer : Best buys at Jaisalmer include woolen shawls, wooden boxes and jewellery articles made in silver and handicrafts. Best places to buy are Manak Chowk, Sonaron Ka Bas, Khadi Gramudyog Emporium.

Jodhpur : Footwear is the one of the important article on sale in the popular markets of Jodhpur. Leather shoes, sandals and musical instruments fill up the stores at Jodhpur. Main shopping areas are Sojati Gate, Tripolia Bazar, Lakhara Bazar.

Udaipur : The shops at Udaipur offer a wide variety of goods and articles. Best buys include tie-and-dye fabrics, hand painted fabric, miniature paintings, silver jewellery and folk toys. The best places to buy at are regions around Lake Palace Road and Jagdish Temple.
